Hey Health Tech Holiday Gift Guide 2024

Hey Health Techies!

The holiday season is officially upon us, and I’m sure your inboxes are flooded with deals and sales. Shameless plug: if you missed it, I’m running a bit of a sale myself because I want you walking into 2025 with all of the career transition resources you need.

So at the risk of adding even more noise, I’ve put together a health tech holiday gift guide. I did this last year and it was so fun. No affiliate links or anything like that. Just stuff that I genuinely love or think is cool in the health and technology space or just fun things that people in healthcare might appreciate.

But before we get into it, I just truly want to say thank you. On the eve of Thanksgiving, there’s no better time to let you know that I appreciate you being here and I’m truly grateful for this community.

⌚️ Wearables

1. The Oura Ring

   The ever-popular and beautiful ring for personal health insights.

2. Whoop

   Not a ring. Not a watch. But metric tracking that’s screen-free and beloved by users.

3. Literally anything by V Coterie

   They make the most beautiful, funny, and relatable jewelry out there for healthcare pros. Did you see this image from by them on Instagram inspired by the banana art sold at Sotheby’s? Brilliant.

📚 Books

1. Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products

   This is not healthcare focused but there are a ton of books out there about building products that can apply to healthcare products. And while building addictive products may sound…not healthy at all, this book is actually really engaging and a great study into the human psyche as well as why some products that you likely know and love are the way they are.

   It’s even more interesting to think about this through the healthcare lens to think through how we might build healthcare products that patients actually want to engage with to take care of their daily healthcare tasks.

2. Inspired: How to Create Products Customers Love

   Similar in concept with fewer of the addictive types of references that Hooked has.
   

3. Deep Medicine: How Artificial Intelligence Can Make Healthcare Human Again

   AI in healthcare will continue to be a hot topic over the next decade I presume. This is a good read for building your own opinions and beliefs about its impact.

For work

1. Rechargeable hand warmer

   I know many of you work in a hospital setting, and they can be downright frigid. This piece of tech will keep your hands warm.

2. Hokas

   Sure they’re running shoes, but seeing as nurses and other healthcare pros can walk upwards of 4 miles per 12 hour shift, it’s no wonder that these have become so popular.

3. Water bottle

   You need something to keep you hydrated when you’re doing all that walking.

   And if you work from home, a water bottle is still great to have at your desk, but what might be even better is a mug warmer to keep your coffee or tea hot.

1. Novelty candle

   Come on. I had to.

   

2. Hatch Smart Sleep Clock

   Rechargining after a long day (or night) at work is so important. The Hatch allows you to do just that.
