Hey Health Tech Survey Results

A celebration of two years in business

Hey Health Techies!

Hey Health Tech is officially two! 🧁

That’s right — while the newsletter came a little bit later, in October of 2022 was when I officially created Hey Health Tech (albeit under a different name for the OGs that have been here since the beginning). The mission was simple: create health tech content for healthcare professionals and spread the word about nontraditional jobs and how to land them. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or you’re new here, I want to thank you for supporting me on this journey and I hope that I have also been able to help you on your own in some small way.

You may remember that a couple of weeks ago, I launched a survey to get to you as a reader a bit better. This was on the recommendation of a good friend and fellow pharmacist turned health tech product manager (thanks Zain!), and I thought I’d share my takeaways since it will influence newsletter content in the future.

Healthcare professionals are notoriously busy, so…

👨🏽‍⚕️ Who reads about healthcare technology for fun?

  • Well it turns out, a wide variety of folks. Hey Health Tech readers are:

    • Nurses (NPs, RNs)

    • Pharmacists

    • Registered Dietitians

    • Chiropractors

    • Respiratory Therapists

    • PAs

    • Students

    • and more

  • As siloed as our healthcare system is, I’m incredibly proud that we have a community of such a wide range of professionals, all learning together.

  • The experience level of readers was also a wide range, with a pretty good split between the three categories of 0-3 years, 4-8 years, and 9+ years.

🤔 What do you like and want more of?

  • Below is a table of the responses I received to the question “What are you interested in hearing most about?”

  • It’s admittedly a little skewed because there was no “other” option or way to type in freeform answers, but overall I think the split is interesting.

It looks like we’re kind of 50/50 here on what we want to see out of future newsletters which is sort of music to my ears because it means we’re on the same page. About 50% of the responses indicate that career tips and nonclinical jobs is of interest while the other 50% or so represent wanting information on trends in the industry like new companies and new products.

I’m happy to create content with this mix in mind, and will likely take a routine pulse-check to make sure I’m hitting the mark for you, the reader. That said, if you feel like you and the things you want to read about weren’t represented by the results, please complete the survey or feel free to reply to this email and let me know more.

P.S. When you’re ready, there are a few ways that I can help:

  • The Resume Lab: The self-guided course that transforms your clinical CV to a compelling resume. I share tips I’ve learned over 10 years of being on both ends of the hiring equation in tech for both clinical and non-clinical roles.

  • I’m gearing up to launch something for pharmacy technicians, OTAs, PTAs, MAs, radiology technicians, LPNs and other techs and assistants in healthcare soon. If that sounds interesting to you, sign up to learn more here.
